The American Friends Service Committee is a multi-service organization working to alleviate and prevent suffering through immediate and long term aid. The work done by the AFSC is based on and driven by the core values of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers): love, nonviolence, justice and the belief that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Some of the issues addressed by the AFSC include, but are not limited to, economic justice, immigrant's rights, promoting peace, fair trade, Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the debt crisis in Africa and recognition of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) rights.
